LOCATION: Green Bay

STANDARD HOURS: 20 hours per week, based on payroll schedule. Payroll Processing Week: M 8am-4:30pm, T 10am-4:30pm, W 8am-2:30pm. Off Payroll Week: M 8am-Noon, T 8am-4:30pm, F 8am-4:30pm. Flexibility in hours needed based on business needs.

PAY RANGE: $26.21-$28.25 per hour

*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Specialist will ensure payroll is accurate, timely and compliant while maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality. This person will continually pursue process improvements and take a lead role in testing new payroll technology for quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll for all part-time faculty, faculty overage payments and non-exempt employees.
  • Process, tuition reimbursement, general deductions, taxation of recognition rewards, employee support orders, tax levies, and wage assignments, ensuring compliance with legal mandates.
  • Process payroll in accordance with the standard operating procedures and state and federal legislation.
  • Utilize advanced spreadsheets and queries to audit, verify, and reconcile payroll data, ensuring data integrity.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate and timely employee time entries, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Train employees and supervisors on time tracking and absences, ensuring compliance with college policies and labor laws; conduct audits of time tracking data for accuracy and compliance, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Process and verify benefit file transmissions.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide information to employees and external customers on payroll matters, tax issues, and other payroll related matters.
  • Recommend system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy; participate in the design, development and testing phases for quality assurance.
  • Effectively communicate new payroll updates, important dates, and technology changes; create effective payroll technology user guides, tutorial videos and in person trainings and orientations to train and educate staff.
  • Complete and submit part-time faculty unemployment verifications and respond to unemployment office and customer inquiries.
  • Back up payroll team member.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Four years directly related experience.
  • Microsoft Excel and human resource information system or payroll system experience; WorkDay experience preferred.
