General Job Description

The Campus Store Team Lead (Mail Specialist) plays an important role in supporting daily store operations while serving as a key resource for campus mail and package services. This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store organization and inventory, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of mail and packages across campus.

As a Team Lead, this role requires a strong sense of ownership, reliability, and pride in serving both the store team and the campus community. The Mail Specialist carries additional responsibility for receiving, sorting, tracking, and delivering mail and packages, often managing high volumes while meeting daily expectations. This role requires someone who is organized, process-driven, and committed to executing tasks with accuracy and consistency.

We are seeking candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy variety in their daily work, and value building relationships across campus. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both inside the store and outdoors in all seasons, understands the importance of following established processes, and looks for opportunities to improve efficiency. This position also requires physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and extended periods of standing.

Role Function

As a member of the store team, you will be responsible for:

  • Engaging and supporting students, parents, staff, and faculty to promote sales, solve problems, and build positive relationships
  • Receiving, sorting, and tracking mail and parcels using the Slingshot mail platform
  • Delivering mail and packages across campus, with or without the use of a vehicle
  • Providing customer service in all areas of the store, including point-of-sale transactions, handling cash and credit card payments, and answering phone calls (including voicemails and returned calls)
  • Assisting with online order fulfillment, shipping, and in-store sales support
  • Supporting receiving processes for textbooks, general merchandise, and print production (when applicable)
  • Fulfilling textbook orders and preparing shipments for delivery
  • Completing general clerical tasks, including filing, basic document creation, spreadsheets, and communication with students via email
  • Maintaining store organization, stock levels, and overall appearance
  • Supporting store operations and stepping into additional roles as needed

As a Team Lead, you will also be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Store Manager with daily operations and team coordination
  • Serving as a point of leadership in the store and stepping in during the Store Manager’s absence
  • Ensuring processes are followed consistently while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrating a strong work ethic, accountability, and commitment to team success

This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry heavy loads, navigate stairs, and perform physical tasks such as bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods of time.
