Job description

The City of Homer is looking for a Part-Time Library Technician I to join our team!

The Library Tech I is a 24 hours/ week position.

They are responsible for staffing the public service desk,shelving materials and assisting library patrons. May complete other support tasks, including assisting other staff with public programming or maintenance of materials.

The right person for our team will meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited two-year college or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one year recent paid experience in public-facing work, preferably in a library setting.

Knowledge of standard library functions and organization; general reference materials and search techniques; Dewey Decimal classification system; use of online catalog; customer service principles and techniques; reference and reader's advisory.

Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, modern office equipment and general office procedures. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
