About the Opportunity

The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a non-tenure track part time faculty lecturer in Commerce & Economic Development.

This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional and educator to contribute to Northeastern University's graduate curriculum in Commerce and Economic Development including Finance within the College of Professional Studies. The successful candidate will teach specialized graduate-level courses potentially covering areas such as Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Institutions, Risk Management, or FinTech for our Master's and Graduate Certificate students. Teaching assignments may involve on-campus delivery at our main Boston, MA campus, as well as online or hybrid teaching formats, depending on program needs and course scheduling.

The College of Professional Studiesis one of ten colleges of Northeastern University, a nationally ranked private research university. Founded in 1960, the College provides lifelong experiential learning that unleashes the capacities of aspiring individuals in all stages and walks of life. The College teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students on campus and online in more than 90 programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate-level courses within the Finance discipline and potentially related quantitative or economic areas. Course topics may include corporate finance, investments, financial institutions, risk management, financial modeling, derivatives, or other advanced finance subjects.
  • Instruct courses primarily within Master's degree and Graduate Certificate programs, focusing on advanced theories, practices, and applications suitable for experienced professionals and graduate students.
  • Engage students in rigorous academic discussions, case studies, research, and the practical application of advanced financial concepts.
  • Maintain course materials, provide timely feedback, and hold office hours as required.

Qualifications

  • A terminal degree (PhD or DBA) in Finance or a closely related field is strongly preferred. A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field combined with substantial (5+ years), high-level, relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • Significant professional experience in finance roles directly related to potential course topics is highly valued.
  • Relevant professional certifications or licensures (e.g., CFA, FRM, CFP, CPA) are advantageous.
  • Prior teaching experience at the graduate level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced undergraduate courses or extensive professional training/mentoring experience will also be considered. A minimum of three years combined relevant teaching/professional experience is required.
  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and support a diverse student body.
