To thrive as a Part-Time L&D Specialist, you need a background in instructional design, adult learning principles, and training facilitation, often supported by a degree in education or HR and relevant experience. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and certifications like CPLP or ATD are commonly required. Strong communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills help in engaging learners and collaborating with stakeholders. They may coordinate with HR, team leaders, and subject matter experts to identify training needs, develop materials, and schedule sessions that fit within limited work hours. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as part-timers must balance deadlines and priorities while often managing multiple projects. By maintaining strong relationships and clear channels of feedback, part-time L&D staff can make a significant impact despite reduced hours.
