This is a PRN position with hours scheduled in advance based on the Teaching Kitchen class schedule.
  • Regular shifts include:
    • Tuesdays: 3:00 PM - approximately 7:00-7:30 PM
    • Wednesdays: 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Additional classes and hours may be added as the program expands
  • Occasional Monday shifts may be required to assist as needed

Pay Range

$18.85 - $28.30Major Responsibilities: Cleaning tasks such as dishwashing, pot washing and general sanitation and cleaning kitchen equitpment is performed in accordance with the department policies and in compliance with Board of Health Regulations. 1)Uses proper cleaning products and follows their specific directions and uses. 2)Aware of MSDS and how to get information when concerns arise and follows Board of Health Regulations. 3)Runs temperature strip though DISHMACHINE to ensure proper temperature. 4)Stores all washed items (china, flatware, pots, and pans, etc.) to meet the operational needs of the specific areas. 5)Washes and sanitizes pot and pans with the proper chemicals and in accordance to the Board of Health Regulations. Assist in the delivery of patieint care by conducting various support responsibilities and retrieving patient trays. 1)Adheres to area's schedule and adapts to changes in daily worksheet to meet workload demands. 2)Pulling floorstock from the floorstock sheets. 3)Pulling and/or making nourishment's prescribed by the patient's physician or the dietitian. 4)Replenishes all areas of food or non food items to ensure proper stock or display supply. 5)Pulls and cleans the doctor's lounge. Ensures that areas are ready for meal service. Proper serving untensils are used. Keeping the steam table area clean and neat for patient service. 1)Prepares, wraps, and dates various items to ensure freshness. 2)Restocks all items necessary for trayline needs. 3)Practices proper sanitation procedures (i.e.: gloves, hairnets/bouffants). Sanitation procedures are performed according to department policies in compliance with Board of Health Regulations. 1)Stores all serving ware china, flatware, pots, and pans to meet operational needs. 2)Requisitions and stores supplies from the hospital and department storerooms to meet operation needs. 3)Removes and disposes of all garbage from areas of the department following department policies and Board of Health Regulations to provide a sanitary work environment. 4)Cleans work areas, counters, tables, and equipment in performing daily and special cleaning assignments in accordance to department policies and Board of Health Regulations. 5)Washes and sanitizes pots and pans in accordance with department policies and Board of Health Regulations. Participates in QA/CQI documentation process. Takes temperatures to ensure proper food are achieved. 1)Documents temperatures of all steam table items. Participation in areas huddles, inservices, training, orientation, and meetings. 1)Attends huddles, inservices and training sessions to keep current with specific procedures, Accrediting Organization requirements and changes within the department and/or hospital. Completes annual CBTs. 2)Attends orientation and area specific meetings to keep current on area specific changes or concerns and for a communication exchange with peers and management. 3)Continue to learn ways to which CQI can be applied to our areas to ensure customer satisfaction.Education/Experience Required:N/AKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Basic team building skills. Detail and results orientated. Good communication skills. Speaks, reads, and writes English to be able to follow instructions/diet orders. None Required Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Able to maneuver large and heavy equipment up to 50 pounds. Access to access high and low areas. Able to transport objects from one area to another Able to work a variety of shifts. Able to meet time constraints in a fast paced environment. Able to read patient menus, names, logs, and chemical labels. Able to document. Able to communicate with various internal/external customers. Able to perform heavy cleaning. May be exposed to hazardous materials. Able to access work area. * Able to move 50 pounds. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
