Part-Time GovCon Controller (Unanet Required)

Remote | Part-Time | Government Contracting Environment

DTC Global Services LLC is seeking a highly accountable and experienced Part-Time GovCon Controller with recent hands-on Unanet experience to independently manage the company's accounting and financial operations.

This is a highly hands-on role ideal for someone who has operated as a one-person accounting function in a government contracting environment and is comfortable personally executing day-to-day accounting transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and financial operations.

The selected individual will personally perform and key accounting transactions, maintain financial records within Unanet, and provide leadership with clear visibility into company financial performance, cash flow, and operational health.

Job Summary

The Part-Time GovCon Controller will own and execute the company's accounting and financial operations, including:

  • Managing the full monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Personally keying and maintaining accounting transactions within Unanet
  • Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related entries, and general ledger activity
  • Preparing monthly financial reporting packages including:
    • Profit & Loss
    • Balance Sheet
    • Cash Flow
    • Budget vs. Actual analysis
  • Monitoring company cash position, working capital, and financial performance
  • Managing invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
  • Performing bank, credit card, and project-level reconciliations
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Maintaining DCAA-compliant accounting practices and supporting FAR compliance requirements
  • Supporting indirect cost allocations and financial reporting accuracy
  • Assisting with audit preparation, tax support, and regulatory reporting
  • Developing and improving accounting workflows, internal controls, and reporting processes
  • Supporting payroll processing, expense tracking, and project financial reporting
  • Identifying discrepancies, financial risks, and operational improvement opportunities

GovCon Experience Preferred

Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting:

  • Government contracting environments
  • DCAA-compliant accounting systems
  • FAR regulations
  • Indirect rate structures
  • Project-based accounting
  • T&M and CPFF contract environments
  • Labor distribution and project setup within Unanet

Performance Expectations (First 60–90 Days)

The following outlines target performance outcomes for the first 60–90 days and may evolve based on business needs and onboarding progress:

  • Monthly books are consistently closed by the 10th with minimal oversight
  • Financial reporting is delivered proactively and accurately
  • Transactions are properly recorded and maintained in Unanet with minimal errors or rework
  • Accounts receivable and payable are actively managed with clear visibility
  • Leadership has accurate insight into company cash flow and financial position
  • Accounting processes are documented, organized, and repeatable

Required Skills & Experience

  • Recent hands-on experience using Unanet (required)
  • Strong government contracting accounting experience
  • Knowledge of DCAA compliance and FAR regulations
  • Proven ability to independently manage full-cycle accounting operations
  • Experience performing transactional accounting work including:
    • Data entry
    • Reconciliations
    • General ledger maintenance
    • AP/AR processing
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Demonstrated experience within a government contracting environment
  • Prior experience serving in a hands-on accounting leadership role strongly preferred
  • Hands on Unanet experience
