Seasonal Gig Work | $32โ€“$100+ Per Property | Flexible Schedule | 1099 Contractor

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Foot Soldiers is hiring Snow Shovelers for the 2026โ€“2027 winter season (October 1 โ€“ March 31).
As an independent contractor, youโ€™ll clear snow from residential, commercial, and government properties throughout Brooklyn. Foot Soldiers services properties under seasonal snow management agreements already in place, providing contractors with access to recurring winter work.
This opportunity is ideal for rideshare drivers, students, paraprofessionals, tradespeople, and Brooklyn residents looking to earn additional income during the winter season.
PAY & EARNINGS
  • Earn 40% of property revenue based on property size, snowfall amount, and time of day
  • Earn 50% of property revenue for overnight assignments (8:00 PMโ€“6:00 AM) and federal holidays
  • Earn an additional 10% bonus on every job completed after your first 8 jobs during a snow event
  • Receive 100% of customer tips
  • Typical pay ranges from $32โ€“$100+ per property
  • Most jobs take approximately 30โ€“45 minutes to complete
  • Walking contractors often earn $300+ per snow event
  • Contractors with vehicles often earn $750+ per snow event
  • Earnings vary based on storm size, availability, property sizes accepted, and the number of jobs completed
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
  • Payments are made via direct deposit
  • Payments are issued on the 3rd and 18th of each month
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING

CLIENT EXPECTATIONS
Contractors are expected to:
  • Pre-treat properties with calcium chloride when required
  • Use plastic snow shovels (metal snow shovels are prohibited)
  • Clear approximately 75% of sidewalks and 100% of stairways
  • Create safe paths to entrances, gates, and trash areas
  • Clear a minimum 3-foot area around fire hydrants located on the property
  • Evenly distribute calcium chloride after snow removal
  • Upload required before-and-after photos through the Foot Soldiers app
  • Complete accepted assignments within 5 hours after snowfall ends, including overnight, early morning, weekend, and holiday snow events
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Proof of TIN, EIN, or Social Security Number
  • Smartphone with active data service capable of running mobile apps and uploading photos
  • Proof of residency in your city, state, or province
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted and work outdoors in snow and freezing temperatures
  • Maintain General Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1,000,000 per occurrence
