Position Summary
Fort Wayne FC is seeking a Groundskeeper to help maintain and prepare our natural grass playing surface at Concordia Theological Seminary. This part-time position plays a key role in ensuring the field is safe, attractive, and player-ready. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced athletic environment. This position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to be directly involved in supporting and maintaining a playing surface that allows Fort Wayne FC athletes to perform at their best.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain the natural grass field through mowing, trimming, weeding, and routine turf care activities.
  • Assist with overseeding, aeration, fertilization, and other turf management practices as needed.
  • Prepare the field for training sessions, matches, and special events, including painting lines, repairing divots, and ensuring optimal playing conditions.
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively, including mowers, rollers, trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and report repair needs to ensure tools remain safe and operational.
  • Complete general groundskeeping tasks, including debris removal, landscape maintenance, and site cleanup.
  • Monitor field conditions and proactively address maintenance needs.
  • Perform field maintenance activities three to five times per week or as scheduled.
  • Follow all safety procedures and organizational policies while carrying out assigned duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating commercial grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of athletic field preparation and turf maintenance practices.
  • Interest in sports, soccer, or outdoor facility management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
