Job Description Summary
Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is now accepting applications for an Assistant Football Coach - Wide Receivers. This is a 12-month, limited duration position in the Athletics Department reporting to the Head Football Coach.
This position is responsible for developing the wide receiver unit, including route running, blocking, technique, and game preparation. The coach will contribute to offensive strategy, recruiting, and the overall success of the football program.
The EOU Assistant Football Coach demands a capable and deeply committed professional who is a great teacher and a person of character. The Eastern Oregon University Assistant Football Coach is expected to adhere to the NAIA Coaches Code and EOU's Athletic Department's guiding principles:
  1. Support the physical, emotional, social, and mental development of student-athletes through a robust system of care and support that produces quality student-athlete experiences.
  2. Support high standards for academic excellence, assisting in academic oversight.
  3. A competent pursuit of athletic excellence shown by competing for Frontier Conference titles and participating in NAIA postseason play by advancing to the national championships.
  4. Embrace the responsibility for equitable treatment and promotion of diversity, acceptance, and inclusion.
  5. Encourage department innovation for enhanced success, and cultivate a mindset for growth, professional development, work-life integration, and department financial vitality.
  6. Promote community engagement and student-athlete character development through respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
  7. Strictly adhere to the highest level of fiscal control and full compliance with all governing associations with transparency and integrity.
  8. Engage EOU alumni through collaborative efforts that generate "Lifelong Mountie" loyalty and support.

Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development
  • Coach wide receivers in route running, releases, blocking, ball skills, and overall technique
  • Plan and implement position-specific practices and drills
  • Evaluate student-athlete performance through film analysis and provide technical feedback
  • Collaborate with offensive staff on game planning, opponent scouting, and play design
  • Reinforce discipline, effort, and team standards during practices and competition

Recruiting
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
  • Maintain relationships with high school and junior college programs
  • Assist with recruiting visits, events, and communication with prospects
  • Support scholarship processes and recruiting database management

Program Operations & Support
  • Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete development
  • Assist with team travel, Hudl, video systems, and administrative tasks
  • Support camps, clinics, and community engagement efforts
  • Coordinate with athletic training staff to ensure student-athlete health and safety

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any related field.
  • Four (4) years of college playing or coaching experience on offense.
  • Experience recruiting for a college football program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NAIA and Frontier Conference rules.
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods of time to complete job activities.
  • Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours during the workday.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull equipment (for example, football sleds, dummies, and pads) a minimum of 10 yards without assistance.

  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
