Job description

The City of Wichita is NOT an E-Verify Employer. Distinguishing Features of Work Customer Service in person or on the phone. They will also be assigned desk work as part of the Customer Experience section.

Workdays and Hours: Saturday - 9:00am - 6:00pm Sunday - 1:00pm-5:00 pm (in rotation) Tuesday through Thursday - 4:00pm - 8:00 pm Monday & Friday off Bargaining Unit: No Union Representation Examples of Work Performed Customer experience desk work/self-check-out assistance Customer assistance in all aspects of library service in person and by telephone (circulation, reader's advisory, and basic reference) Delivery Van Driver in rotation on Saturdays following or prior to holiday closures, in addition to Summer (every other Saturday) Search In progress (backup) Telephony report review (monthly) Patron accounts clean-up projects Assigned shelf maintenance (straightening, shifting, shelf-read, weeding, wanding, display) Closing of section on assigned weekdays and Saturdays Requirements of Work Equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Skills: organizational, detail-oriented Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with others Ability to learn within a short period of time Ability to write legibly Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to priorities work and meet deadlines Ability to pay close attention to detail Ability to work independently with limited supervision Experience and Training Required Experience and Training A Highschool diploma. One year of experience in a customer service or administrative support role.

Valid KS driver's license. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Training One year of library experience in shelving, sorting, technology skills, customer service, and use of an integrated library system.
