Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree preferred.
The aide's primary responsibility is performance of duties supporting the library program.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Maintain material, magazine and book organization.
    • Check-in
    • Shelve
    • Read shelves and straighten
  • Repair materials and books
    • Check-in and mark invoice
    • Replace book covers, spine labels and barcodes
    • Tape tears
    • Glue and tape spines
    • Erase markings and clean as necessary
  • Process books and materials
    • Check-in and mark invoice
    • Property stamp books and materials
    • Label
    • Prepare necessary shelf and catalog cards or computer data
    • Display
  • Withdraw books and materials
    • Stamp "discard" in book or material
    • Pull or delete accession number on shelf card; pull catalog cards, if necessary
  • Computer
    • Proficiency in the library automation program
    • Proficiency using electronic media
    • Basic understanding of computers and trouble-shooting methods
    • Locate and describe LMC available computer programs
    • Proficiency in the use of personal productivity software
    • Assists in the coordination of LMC computer usage and scheduling

    • Fulfills other duties as assigned by the media specialist
