Job description

Adjunct Faculty - School of Education (Dissertation Chair)

Regent University's School of Education is seeking adjunct faculty for chairing dissertations for doctoral candidates in all concentrations enrolled in the Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy programs.
Chairs will supervise candidates conducting dissertation research, provide support, and guide candidates throughout the entire process.
Dissertation Chairs are required to review candidates' manuscripts within two weeks and provide practical and constructive feedback. Chairs are required to be familiar with the Dissertation Handbook policies and procedures, and they must ensure candidates follow the procedures within the Dissertation Handbook.
Chairs will respond to student emails within 24 hours on weekdays. Chairs must complete all requirements as mandated by Regent University Human Resources and the School of Education.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have:
  • An Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education.
  • A degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Completed a traditional qualitative or quantitative dissertation.
  • Prior experience as a dissertation chair or committee member.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative or quantitative research methods in the field.

Candidates must have:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in APA Style, specifically the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (specifically Word), Canvas or Blackboard, and the internet.
  • A commitment to Regent University's core values of Excellence, Innovation, and Integrity.

Expectations include:
  • A dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning.
  • A record of, or potential for, academic scholarship.
  • The ability to teach undergraduate-level courses.
  • Facility with online instructional technology.
  • A willingness to embrace the College and University identity and mission statements and subscribe to a Statement of Christian Faith.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate ongoing contributions to the field and participation in peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience teaching research methods using Canvas or Blackboard. Candidates must have a commitment to responsiveness and doctoral candidate support.
Salary: $100 per credit hour per student, up to $3,000 per course.
