Employee Type: 12-month, Part-Time (10-12 hours per week)
Reports To: Executive Director of Community Engagement
Who We Are: Opening in 2009, CRJ now has a student enrollment of over 480 young men and women, and nearly 100 faculty/staff. Cristo Rey Jesuit offers a rigorous college preparatory education available to students of limited economic resources in the Houston area. A unique Corporate Work Study Program places students in Houston businesses and nonprofits where they learn the expectations of the corporate world and earn up to 50 percent of the cost of their education. Cristo Rey Jesuit belongs to the national Cristo Rey Network of schools and the national Jesuit Schools Network.

The Job: The Part-Time Database Assistant provides essential administrative support to ensure the accurate processing of donor contributions and the efficient operation of the Community Engagement office. This position is responsible for entering donations into the donor database, preparing tax receipts, maintaining organized filing systems, and supporting general office operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and committed to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit.
As a member of the Community Engagement team, this individual should be willing to support their colleagues in reaching the goals of the team. Qualified candidates must be able to work in a challenging environment and remain flexible with daily tasks and projects delegated to them. This person will be motivated by the Catholic/Christian/Jesuit mission of the school and by the opportunity to help an institution that will have a lasting positive impact on the greater Houston community.
Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Accurately enter donor contributions into Cristo Rey Jesuit's donor management database.
  • Generate and distribute charitable tax receipts and donor acknowledgments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Verify the accuracy of donor records and update contact information as needed.
  • Assist with preparing reports related to donations and donor activity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor and organizational information.
  • Perform general administrative duties including copying, scanning, data entry, and document organization.
  • Assist with mail processing and office correspondence.
  • Provide support for special projects and fundraising events as assigned, including Cristo Rey Jesuit Gala and senior/graduation week.
  • Perform occasional errands and other duties as assigned to support Cristo Rey Jesuit's mission and daily operations.
Technical Skills and Professional Qualifications:
  • Technical Aptitude: Foundational proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or donor management or database software.
  • Communication Skills: Professional, welcoming demeanor; strong written and oral communications. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Cristo Rey Jesuit alumnus strongly preferred
  • Current college student strongly preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Regularly interact with students, parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Flexible work hours based on college class schedule
