Job description

The Brief

Do you dream in jump cuts, color grades and motion graphics? Does your brain automatically

think of the perfect beat drop for a transition? Then weโ€™d like to talk.

Satori is looking for a part-time Video Editor to join our creative crew on a per-project basis.ย

With raw footage and storyboards from our team in hand, youโ€™ll use your editing prowess toย

create dynamic, polished stories that capture the spirit of our clients.

Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with our creative team to edit videos that donโ€™t just look awesome

but captivate the audienceโ€”whether itโ€™s a social media reel to promote a clientโ€™s service, aย

heartfelt piece for a nonprofit or an educational video on a technical topic.ย

Since we are a busy agency, thereโ€™ll be quick turnarounds, evolving storylines and plenty ofย

chances to flex your editing muscles, all while keeping projects on-brand, on-message and on deadline.

Remote-ish (but mostly in office): Youโ€™ll spend some days editing from your creative cave, but the magic happensย

when we all get together. Expect to be in our West Houston headquarters for brainstorms, up-close collaboration and โ€œholy sh*t, thatโ€™s brilliantโ€ moments

Position Responsibilities:ย

โ€ข Edit a variety of content โ€” social media reels, campaign videos, interviews, eventย

recaps and more โ€” with speed, precision and creativity.

โ€ข Incorporate motion graphics, sound design and color correction to enhance storytellingย

and visual impact.

โ€ข Collaborate with project managers, copywriters and designers to ensure videos alignย

with client goals and brand voice.

โ€ข Manage and organize project files using consistent naming and storage conventions.

โ€ข Deliver final videos optimized for multiple platforms (web, social, broadcast, etc.).

โ€ข Stay current on editing trends, tools and techniques to keep Satoriโ€™s work fresh andย

relevant.

โ€ข Jump into creative brainstorms when needed and bring your best ideas.

โ€ข Handle multiple projects with shifting priorities while meeting deadlines (because,ย

again, thatโ€™s agency life, baby)

Position Must-Haves

โ€ข 3โ€“5 years of professional video editing experience, preferably in an agency orย

marketing environment

โ€ข Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (non-negotiable โ€” this is your creativeย

playground)

โ€ข Working knowledge of After Effects for text animation, transitions and light compositing

โ€ข Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve (bonus if you can make those colors sing)

โ€ข Experience using Adobe Audition (or similar) for balancing, cleaning and sweeteningย

audio

โ€ข A strong reel that shows range, including style, story and pacing

โ€ข A desire to be an enthusiastic collaborator who thrives in creative chaos, working

alongside designers, copywriters and strategists to bring ideas to life (if your vibe is โ€œIโ€™ll

just worry about my part,โ€ this ainโ€™t your gig)

โ€ข Ability to edit for multiple formats (vertical, square, widescreen) and deliver optimizedย

exports across platforms

โ€ข Understanding of compression, resolution and color space and why they matter to finalย

delivery

โ€ข Knowledge of accessibility standards, including ADA-compliant captioning, graphicsย

and audio descriptions

โ€ข Familiarity with Section 508 compliance for government and public-sector clients

โ€ข Ability to work independently and deliver client-ready work without handholding

โ€ข Flexibility to work as needed, including the occasional night/weekendย

โ€ข Excellent communication and responsiveness โ€” Slack, email, text, carrier pigeon,ย

whatever

โ€ข A sense of humor, collaborative energy and passion for telling killer stories on screen

๏ปฟPhysical Requirements

Work is performed in an office setting, but travel is a possibility. You may be subject to sitting,ย

standing or walking for extended periods of time (especially if this helps the creative juicesย

flow). You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (or be able to convince someone to do it for you)
