LOCATION: Hobbs, NM
STATUS: Part-Time, 26 hrs/week, Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The Foodbank and Street Level Outreach Aide is a part-time role supporting The Salvation Army's social services-primarily the food bank and street-level outreach programs. This role helps with food distribution, pantry organization, outreach assistance during street-level ministry hours, maintaining clean environments, and providing general support across social services. It requires flexibility, compassion, and the ability to assist in multiple areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Experience in customer service, social services, food pantry operations, or community outreach preferred
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Understanding of issues related to homelessness, poverty, addiction, and mental health preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Basic computer and data entry skills required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license preferred with clean driving record
  • Ability to pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety training if required to drive
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor consistent with The Salvation Army mission

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare food boxes and assist with food distribution for pantry and outreach programs
  • Assist clients with food pantry services in a respectful and welcoming manner
  • Help stock shelves, organize inventory, rotate food stock, and unload deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pantry, warehouse, kitchen, and client areas
  • Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restroom cleaning
  • Assist with client intake and basic data entry as needed
  • Help prepare and distribute hygiene items and essential supplies
  • Provide support for Street Level outreach ministry activities
  • Cover lunch breaks for Street Level staff
  • Assist with outreach events, mobile ministry activities, and seasonal programs as needed
  • Help maintain supply inventory and notify supervisors of low stock items
  • Support volunteers and community service workers when assigned
  • Assist with donation pickups and deliveries as needed
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of social services operations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
