As a CCVS intern, you’ll work closely with a team of more than 30 veterinarians, including over 20 board-certified specialists across disciplines such as emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, and zoological medicine.

Our team includes:
  • 6 full-time and 2 part-time Criticalists (ACVECC)
  • 4 Surgeons (ACVS) and 2 part-time surgical consultants
  • 4 Internists (ACVIM)
  • 2 Cardiologists (ACVIM/Cardiology)
  • 1 Anesthesiologist (ACVAA)

  • 1 Zoological Medicine Specialist (ACZM)
Our rotating internship provides comprehensive exposure to specialty and emergency medicine while advancing your independence and confidence as a clinician.

What You’ll Experience
  • Diverse case exposure: Annual hospital caseload exceeds 19,000 cases, including over 30 emergency cases daily, ensuring constant opportunities to learn.
  • Structured learning: Interns rotate through Emergency & Critical Care (24 weeks), Surgery (9 weeks), Internal Medicine (9 weeks), Radiology (2 weeks), Cardiology (2 weeks), and Anesthesia (2 weeks), with 4 weeks of elective time.
  • Comprehensive mentorship: You’ll receive daily rounds with specialists, monthly check-ins, and a dedicated veterinarian mentor throughout the year.

Why Choose CCVS

At CCVS, we take pride in cultivating both clinical skill and professional confidence. Our interns are empowered to think critically, communicate effectively, and deliver exceptional patient care while being a vital part of a supportive team that values trust, collaboration, and compassion.

You’ll benefit from:
  •  Annual CE allowance and paid professional memberships (AVMA, VIN, VECCS, MVMA)
  • Full health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Scrubs allowance, Trupanion for up to two pets, and on-site veterinary social worker
  • Per diem opportunities for additional income
  • Relocation assistance

We’re growing, which means so will your opportunities.

CCVS is currently expanding our Bourne facility, with completion expected in early 2027. The expansion will add more physical space, advanced medical technology, and three new specialty departments: Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Dentistry. It will also bring additional board-certified specialists in existing specialties and advanced diagnostics (MRI, fluoroscopy) to enhance cross-department collaboration and elevate our educational programs for interns and residents alike.

This growth means that interns joining now will help shape the next chapter of CCVS and will train in a hospital that is not only advancing patient care but also expanding possibilities for future residents and specialists.

    Life on Cape Cod

Outside the hospital, enjoy all that coastal New England has to offer. Beaches, sailing, kayaking, hiking, and fresh seafood. CCVS is located just one hour from Boston and Providence, and a short drive from the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

    Qualifications
    • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited or recognized veterinary school
    • Must have passed the NAVLE (or PAVE/ECFVG equivalent) prior to the start date
    • Must be eligible for Massachusetts veterinary licensure and DEA registration
