On-call Emergency Veterinary Surgeon
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a dedicated On-Call Veterinary Surgeon (DACVS) or residency-trained veterinarian to join our team to provide high-quality emergency surgical services. This role is critical to ensuring exceptional care during our busiest hours, primarily covering nights and weekends as needed.

Our hospital in Buzzards Bay offers state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced imaging and monitoring, a full surgical suite, and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities to support our specialists.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality surgical intervention for emergency cases on an on-call basis, primarily during nights and 1-2 weekends per month.
  • Collaborate with emergency veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure a smooth and efficient patient care experience.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding surgical outcomes and post-operative care.
  • Maintain clear, detailed records for each case to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications
  • Board-certified surgeon (DACVS) or residency-trained veterinarian with a focus on small animal surgery.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency surgical care preferred.
  • Ability to respond efficiently to a variety of surgical emergencies in a high-stakes environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with both clients and hospital teams under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Flexibility to be on-call during nights and weekends as needed.
