Job description

Position Summary:

Spirit Christian Academy (SCA) teachers serve as Christian leaders and educational partners with parents to deliver a college-preparatory curriculum in a University-Model School® environment. Teachers provide two to three days of on-campus instruction per week, and support home-based learning by equipping and guiding co-teachers (parents). All instruction integrates a biblical worldview and supports SCA’s mission to develop servant leaders who reflect Christ in character, thought, and deed.

Responsibilities:Instruction & Curriculum

  • Deliver high-quality, grade-level appropriate instruction with biblical integration.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, including lesson plans, assignment sheets, and assessments.
  • Provide instructional support for home education days and maintain consistent communication with co-teachers.
  • Prepare students for academic success by encouraging critical thinking, strong literacy, and independent study habits.

Classroom Management

  • Create a structured and respectful classroom environment that fosters student engagement and positive behavior.
  • Maintain accurate attendance through FACTS and ensure student safety during school hours.
  • Follow all classroom policies, including clean-up procedures and proper use of school equipment and supplies.

Professionalism

  • Attend all mandatory teacher meetings, in-service days, and professional development events (even on non-teaching days).
  • Submit grades and reports in a timely manner; use approved system to maintain academic records.
  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, and parents to uphold school policies and resolve conflicts using biblical principles (Matthew 18).

Student Support & Character Development

  • Model Christ-like character in speech, attitude, and conduct.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback to students, monitor progress, and guide student growth.
  • Encourage servant leadership and support SCA’s student learning outcomes (SLOs).

Requirements:Spiritual Qualifications

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ and regular attendee of a local evangelical church.
  • All employees are expected to live in a manner consistent with the school’s faith-based mission and uphold its religious teachings as part of their role in a discipleship-based educational environment.

Personal & Professional Qualifications

  • Demonstrates emotional stability, integrity, kindness, punctuality, and a growth mindset.
  • Meets teaching responsibilities with clarity, preparation, and adaptability.
  • Maintains professional boundaries and adheres to SCA’s “Never Alone” and Child Protection policies.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred (especially in hybrid or university-model settings).
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and classical or college-preparatory education is a plus.

Additional Expectations:

  • Arrive on campus 15 minutes before the first class.
  • Participate in evaluations conducted by the Administrator or Director of Faculty Development.
  • Maintain a professional dress code in accordance with school guidelines.
  • Handle absences by securing an approved substitute and submitting lesson plans in advance.
  • Submit end-of-year materials, final grades, and clean classroom spaces by June 15.

Classification: Hourly Contract, Part-Time Tuesday through Thursday (school year August 15–June 15)
