General Summary
This position will serve as a part time instructor in the Continuing Education department at Odessa College in the Gregory D. Williams Hall. The Accounting instructor will teach students how accountants and auditors prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, and provide solutions for businesses and individuals. They ensure that financial records are accurate, that financial and data risks are evaluated, and that taxes are paid properly. Successful completion will result in a certification for the student. Sessions will be 2 or 4 hour sessions until syllabus is completed.
Specific Position Duties
  • Conduct in person Accounting training sessions, as needed to meet demands.
  • Flexible schedule and hours.
  • Instruct and assist students in understanding Accounting, where applicable.
  • Provide support and guidance to students as they progress in their Accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and exceptional service.
  • Knowledge of other instructional technologies.
  • Plan and organize lectures, utilize research and reference materials.
  • Develop syllabi and other learning aids.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing appropriate methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Submit required rosters, reports and forms.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proof of proficiency in Accounting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Accounting Certification or degree preferred.
  • Collegiate teaching experience preferred but not required.

Work Hours
This position is part-time with max of 19 hours per week. Classes/sessions are contingent on the minimum number of students enrolled. If minimum is not met, the class is subject to cancelation.
