Position Title: Philanthropy Operations Coordinator

Location: Remote USA

Salary: $52,000 - $56,000

Status: Full-time, salaried, exempt

Reports to: Director of Philanthropy Operations

Since 1988, Rainforest Trust has been safeguarding imperiled tropical habitats and saving endangered species by creating and expanding protected and conserved areas. That very much includes supporting rights-based conservation measures such as affirming and securing rights to Indigenous or Traditional Territories, recognizing Conserved Areas (OECMs), and establishing traditional Protected Areas, including those with co-management of Indigenous or local communities. Working in partnership with local organizations and communities, we have protected more than 60 million acres of vital habitat across Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Rainforest Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies upon the generous support of the public to successfully implement our important conservation action.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR MISSION:

As the Philanthropy Operations Coordinator, you will provide critical operational support to the Philanthropy department by managing donor data integrity, streamlining administrative workflows, and coordinating audience segmentation efforts to enhance donor engagement, including:

  • Maintaining accurate donor and fundraising data.
  • Serving as the primary administrative and clerical support for planned giving/estate administration.
  • Managing audience selection and segmentation strategy in close coordination with Marketing and Fundraising.
  • Coordinating operational workflows and administrative processes that support excellent, service-oriented donor engagement.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving operational processes, documentation, and team resources.
  • Acting as a trusted operational partner within and across departments.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, WE'RE HOPING YOU'LL HAVE:

  • Experience maintaining records within a CRM or constituent database.
  • Keen attention to detail and data quality/hygiene.
  • Thorough understanding of data privacy and confidentiality.
  • Experience communicating with and supporting donors on the phone or via email.
  • Strong project coordination and prioritization skills.
  • Highly proactive, with the ability to follow up and track work through bottlenecks and delays.
  • Experience supporting fundraising or nonprofit operations teams.
  • Experience with pulling reports out of a database or platform.
  • Experience in Excel or manipulating spreadsheets.
  • Ability to prioritize communication and consistent follow-through.
  • Clear technical written communication.
  • Ability to document, process and maintain updated SOPs.
  • Experience supporting knowledge management and resource development for internal teams.
  • A service-minded attitude internally and externally.
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring processes simultaneously.
  • Comfortable seeking out differing perspectives and incorporating into practical solutions.
  • Experience using AI in service of more efficient workflows desired.
  • Experience working with legal, estate, or planned giving documentation or paperwork and interpreting for actionable next steps.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Rainforest Trust is a remote first organization and the incumbent will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection, though part-time office space may be available in Washington DC. Occasional national and/or international travel may be required for organizational meetings and other events.

ANTICIPATED SALARY

The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $56,000 commensurate with experience. This base compensation range represents the anticipated low and high range of wages for this position. Salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
