Job description

We are looking for a unicorn. We need someone who can anchor our evening newscasts, produce those newscasts, create content for our digital platforms and CTV streaming channel, and mentor our young staff of reporters. As news teams get small, staff members are having to take on additional responsibilities. Those Jack-of-All-Trades will be the journalists that carry our industry into the future. It will make you more valuable to all future employers. We're an aggressive news organization that owns breaking news in the local market.

That's the hard part. What's in it for you? You'll be living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the country. People pay thousands of dollars a week to vacation here in Panama City, Florida. The people who live here are friendly, welcoming and hospitable. If you get involved in the community, they will embrace you as one of their own. You'll be working with a young, energetic staff of reporters, most fresh out of college and working in their first newsroom. There are also seasoned veterans on the staff who make up the core leadership of the newsroom.

The station signed on in October 1973, has been an ABC affiliate since 1982, a CW affiliate since 2024, and we've been part of the Nexstar Nation since 2014.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.

  • Minimum five years' experience in news reporting or anchoring. (More or less depending on market size.)

  • Superior on-air presence.

  • Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.

  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.

  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

  • Flexibility to work any shift.
