Job description

 DIETICIAN - FLEXSTAFF
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history.
2. Obtains patient food preferences.
3. Assesses patients and documents in patients’ medical record, according to
hospital policies and procedures.
4. Recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
5. Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to
physicians for patients.
6. Ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.
7. Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding, TPN/PPN, and dietary intakes
(calorie counts) as ordered by physicians.
8. Provides nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families.
Provides written material as needed and according to prescribed diet.
9. Assists Chief Clinical Dietitian with changes to patient’s menu, including
patient food preferences, and development of standardized recipes.
10. Assists in overseeing food service workers in proper food handing and
portion control.
11. Reports any malfunctioning of equipment which may interfere with a safe and
smooth operation.
12. Participates in performance improvement initiatives including data collection
and reporting on results.
13. Performs related duties, as required.

ADA Essential Functions

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition or Dietetics, required.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) within three (3) months of date of hire, required.
• Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, preferred.

One year acute care experience preferred
