QUALIFICATIONS: - Completed district employment application
- Must pass a background check
- Associate degree education required
- Special knowledge, skills and abilities in first aid, CPR must obtain within 6 months
- To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including classroom management, interpersonal communication, adaptive equipment, and computers
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Must be able to successfully complete performance responsibilities listed below
- Any other qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and/or acceptable

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
8 hours per day, 10 months. Salary established by classified salary matrix.
EVALUATION:
To be performed in accordance with School Board Policy.
JOB GOAL:
Includes supervising children, providing academic guidance, motivating students, may grade assignments, and managing tasks.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (may include but not limited to the following):
- PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO THE TEACHER BY
- Implementing direct instruction lessons
- Implementing lesson plans and behavior plans
- Presenting small group instruction
- Developing, organizing, and maintaining materials needed for designated lessons
- Keeping data on student performance on skills identified in IEP goals and objectives
- Supervising students for short periods when the teacher is not in the classroom.
- PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO THE STUDENT BY
- Implementing behavioral supports across settings
- Supervising students at lunch, on the playground and in other areas of school or school campus
- Monitoring students for personal safety
- Assisting students in using adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Helping students to integrate into regular classroom settings
- Having special materials and equipment ready for students as they prepare for class
- Assisting with classroom and homework assignments
- Supervising students in the safe transfer to and from their buses
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include sitting, standing, bending, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling electric wheelchairs in excess of 100 pounds, physically manage students and equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job include noisy and often disruptive students; physical demands; and stressful conditions assisting students having a physical or emotional emergency while the bus is moving.
