Job description

Seasonal Paramedic Supervisors for Mohawk's team at the Saratoga Racetrack for the Summer 2026 Race Season!
Work exclusively at the Saratoga Racetrack.
Base rate of pay is $45 per hour, plus an additional $2 per hour weekend differential for Saturday and Sunday shifts.
Shift availability now thru Labor Day. Available Shifts*:
  • Everyday shifts (Mid-April through November)
    • Morning Warmups: 4:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
  • Race Days (Wednesday through Sunday, Belmont Stakes (June 3-7), July 4th Racing (July 3-5), and regular race season (July 9 - Sep 7))
    • Main Track Warmups: 4:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
    • First Aid Station: 10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. (weekends 9:30 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.)
    • Chase & Back Up Chase: 10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. (weekends 9:30 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.)

This is a high-visibility, low call volume EMS standby position that involves providing the highest level of emergency medical care to the jockeys, NYRA staff, and general public at the Saratoga Racetrack.
Employees in this Supervisor role serve as management representatives for Mohawk Ambulance Service at the Saratoga Race Track, and are expected to undergo supervisory training. Responsibilities include:
  • Act as a resource to staff for any issues or questions they may have and oversee them throughout your shift
  • Serve as a clinical oversight to ensure all staff are delivering a high quality of care
  • Preserve the safety of all staff and patients by enforcing safety procedures
  • Ensure staff arrive on time to their shift, fit for duty, in proper uniform and ready to go
  • Ensure staff understand and follow company policies, especially as it relates to the performance our contract NYRA, and participate in the counseling and progressive discipline process with employees
  • Communicate operational and personnel issues thru the on-duty chain of command

Minimum Qualifications
  • New York State Certified AEMT-P or nationally registered paramedic capable of receiving timely reciprocity.
  • Prior supervisory experience, preferred.
  • General knowledge of principles of Emergency Medical Services operations and equipment
  • Ability to maintain favorable relations with staff, patients, families, bystanders, company EMS crews, other agency representatives, and members of other clinical teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must possess and maintain Class "D" New York State Driver License or higher or analogous equivalent from another jurisdiction without record of suspension or revocation in any State. Must be deemed insurable.
  • Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 lbs. with assistance)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
