Job description

Taft is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Real Estate team in Minneapolis.

We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Real Estate team in our Minneapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides skilled, proactive administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and others as needed.
  • Exhibits outstanding client service orientation in greeting guests, scheduling meetings, and arranging telephone conferences.
  • Assists in managing client contacts, emails, and documents as well as processing mail.
  • Prepares and reviews documents, letters and memoranda according to Firm standards.
  • Proactively monitors deadlines and maintains communication with attorneys regarding same.
  • Processes requests for payment and reimbursements.
  • Enters attorney billable hours into the firm billing program and assists with the billing process.
  • Creates, maintains and retires files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy.
  • Drafts basic documents and emails.
  • Responds to requests with a sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes work.
  • Clearly communicates in a concise, professional manner.
  • Displays strong attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of Legal Assistant experience strongly preferred.
  • Education beyond high school or coursework related to the legal industry preferred.
  • Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

The salary range for this position is $30.25/hour – $41.02/hour.  The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for the position.  Within the range, individual pay is determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
