Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant provides general administrative and legal support to in-house counsel in representing the company on leasing matters, purchases and sales of real estate, and project development. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the drafting, negotiating, and processing of commercial leases, amendments, and assignments;
  • Abstract leases and update abstracts as necessary;
  • Assist with all stages of commercial real estate purchases and sales, from contract drafting to title review, to coordinating and preparing for closing;
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining an organized paper and electronic file system; updating lease summary reports; processing internal database updates related to complete agreements; preparing letters and mailings; tracking deadlines
  • Collaborate with in-house counsel to provide general legal support to the leasing department and the company. 

OTHER DUTIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years’ prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm or in-house corporate setting;
  • Experience with commercial real estate transactions;
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Well organized with strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills;
  • Superior drafting, research, and communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, management, leasing agents, tenants, and outside professionals.
  • Ability to think logically in solving problems and applying the appropriate course of action.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office software (Word and Excel), Outlook and Adobe.
