Position: Line Lead
Location: 6550 WA-14 Bingen, WA 98605 or 111 S. Parallel Ave. Dallesport, WA 98617
Direct Supervisor: Pear Production Supervisor, QC Lead
Schedule: 6:00am - 4:30pm; 30-min Lunch; 4 days a week. Rotate days on and off based on an ABC schedule. Overtime as needed. 7 days a week up to 10 hours a day during Cherry season (approx. June-July) at Dallesport in a similar position.
Compensation: $18.66 - $22.91 per hour
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonuses

Position Summary: As Line Lead for Production,you will play a critical role in overseeing the efficient and effective processing of apples, pears, and cherries on the packing line as directed by your supervisor. You will be responsible for leading a team of production workers and ensuring that the highest quality standards are met throughout the processing and packing process. Your attention to detail, leadership skills, and knowledge of fruit handling techniques will be instrumental in delivering top-quality fruit to customers while maintaining a safe and productive working environment. Work locations are at Bingen (approx. Aug-May) and Dallesport (approx. Jun-Jul).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee a team of production workers, providing guidance, instruction, and motivation to achieve daily production goals.
  • Ensure that fruit meet strict quality standards by inspecting for defects, sorting, and ensuring that only the best-quality fruit are packed for distribution by the team.
  • Manage the production workflow to maximize efficiency, minimize waste, and maintain a smooth operation throughout the packing process.
  • Maintain accurate records of pear inventory, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with the inventory team to ensure adequate supply for packaging.
  • Oversee the proper maintenance and cleaning of sorting, grading, and packing equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of your team, including proper handling of equipment, adherence to safety regulations, and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Train new production workers, providing instruction on pear handling techniques, quality standards, and safety procedures. In addition, responsible for training other individuals as backups for this key position.
  • Foster clear communication with team members, management, and other departments to address any production issues, quality concerns, or logistical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, quality control checks, and any incidents or issues that may arise during the pear processing and packing process.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement, and collaborate with management to implement changes.
  • Assist with accurate accounting for physical attendance of personnel.
  • Hold employees accountable for Attendance, Safety, Food Safety, Quality & Performance, and all workplace policies and procedures.
  • Direct and lead personnel during an emergency evacuation to evacuation point. Assist with attendance.
  • Communicate professionally at all times with your supervisor and follow directions given.
  • Adhere to and ensure good manufacturing practices, personal and work area hygiene & food safety standards and requirements.
  • Follow and ensure all follow Plant Safety requirements and adhere to the Company Handbook.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Temperatures can be moderate to cool in this indoor work environment.
  • Must be able to work inside a packing facility.
  • Stand on feet for long periods of time (Up to three hours at a time).
  • Use of upper extremities and both hands to complete tasks.
  • Must have good hand dexterity.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with or w/ out corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to use a radio, phone, and Computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Speaking Spanish is required.

Experience/Education:
  • English written & verbal.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Use of computer applications for 2 years.
  • An understanding of logistics in a production setting.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred.
