The Cypress of Hilton Head's Food & Beverage Department is recruiting for a hospitality focused Host/Hostess to join our team!
 

Position Status: Part-Time 

Compensation:  $20.00 hourly

Schedule: Day and Evening - schedule is based on current need.  Part Time hrs. guaranteed.

Position Summary: Ensures each guest is greeted and seated promptly. Assumes responsibility to assure the most efficient operation of dining service at The Cypress Club, offering the maximum in service to our residents and guests, through advance planning, coordination, and cooperation with other departments.

  1. Meet, greet and seat guests with a smile in a courteous, genuine manner, present clean menus immediately upon seating and inform guest of server's name; inform server of newly arrived guests at their stations.
  2. Upon seating the guest, determine if there will be a delay in service; if it is apparent, make an acknowledgement and attempt to pacify the guest.
  3. Ensure that dining room is organized and neat, tables have been properly set and are ready for seating; arrangement of room and organization must also be intact.
  4. Have knowledge of the number and location of all Dining Room tables, so guests will be seated in an equitable manner throughout, and no server or particular station will be overloaded with guests.
  5. Convey and guest complaint or grievance to Director, Manager or Executive Chef (written documentation).
  6. Monitor and restaurant area at all times to ensure service procedures and carried out appropriately.  See attached memo:  Service Techniques/The Perfect 20/Sanitation Check List.
  7. Remain on duty at entrance or on the floor at all times; provide continuous attention to guest's needs.
  8. Keep entrance area organized, clean, and free of debris.
  9. Keep a legible, neat, organized Reservation book with pertinent information including Name/Apartment Number/Time/Number of Guests/Specific requests or instructions.
  10. Adhere to a strict groom and uniform code at all times.
  11. Assist when called upon during emergency situations to perform restaurant related activities such as bussing tables, serving beverages, taking food orders, moving tables and chairs, setting tables, etc.
  12. Answer telephone inquiries and handle reservations and requests as needed.
  13. Conduct daily pre-meal meetings for lunch and dinner, communicating daily menu and specials, specific instructions for special requests, reservations, special event requests, and other pertinent information.
  14. Answers and performs all order taking for tray service.
  15. Provides for daily menus-typing/voice recording and Channel 20 video.
  16. Maintain positive attitude, cooperate with fellow employees and management courteously, and set an example for fellow employees regarding work ethic.
  17. Ensure guest's cards are scanned appropriately for accountability. 
  18. Upon conclusion of work shift, adheres to check list policy of activities as designated by Dining Room Manager.
  19. When observing that a guest is in need of service or assistance, be active in serving coffee, bussing tables, serving juices, or doing whatever it takes to provide the best possible service to contribute to maximum resident satisfaction.
  20. Understands the responsibility to report suspected violations of The Cypress Code of Conduct to Written Report of Suspected Compliance Violations, or by contacting the Corporate Compliance Officer directly.
  21. Takes appropriate precautions to avoid job related injuries and complies with injury reporting guidelines.
  22. Actively participates in safety programs and complies with The Cypress Club policies and procedures.
  23. Looks for ways to continuously improve safety for members, staff and visitors.
  24. Embraces The Cypress Hospitality Promises daily.

     Additional Responsibilities:

  25. Train and orient new employees to policies, procedures, duties and tasks as directed.
  26. Convey to the Food Service Director any employee complaints, criticism, gossip and comments that may be detrimental to the company.
  27. Attend mandatory in-services as required.
  28. All other duties as assigned.

          Educational Requirements: Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.

          Licensure/Certification: None

         Additional Qualifications: A minimum of one year experience in front-of-house operations preferred; ability to work independently of close supervision; ability to           clearly follow oral and written instructions; maintain courteous, friendly, helpful conduct at all times with residents and visitors; ability to respond well in c                         challenging situations; computer knowledge and data entry abilities preferred.

         Security Requirements:  The Host/Hostess is not required or allowed to electronically view or access confidential patient information.  Host/Hostess will be a                 allowed to view and share patient information accessible otherwise in regard to patient care.

  Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time. Must be able to stand and walk 90% of the workday; ability    to stoop, bend and stretch frequently; must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Frequently.  Must be able to see, hear, and speak; must be able to read, write and speak English.
