Job description

Position Title: Student FAFSA Peer Coach (PUSD Seniors only)
Department: K-12 
Supervisor: Site Administration 
Term of Employment: Seasonal 


 
Salary Classification: Student Worker Pay 
 
 
Job Summary: A senior high school student who will work as a peer-to-peer coach to help their fellow classmates learn about the FAFSA and complete the application. Peer Coaches will plan, promote, and host FAFSA events alongside their school FAFSA Peer Coach Advisors.
Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLYand is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents in this class.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 




 
  • Commit to serve as a FAFSA Peer Coach from August 2025-May 2026
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required
  • Brainstorm creative ways to engage and support fellow seniors, parents, and community in post-secondary planning and FAFSA completion
  • Use relevant technology to help peers
  • Communicate with students about the FAFSA
  • Create peer-to-peer video promoting FAFSA completion
  • Provide encouragement and support to classmates
  • Promote and attend post-secondary related events
  • Work flexible hours
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 
 
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures 
  • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Peoria Unified School District School Senior at designated High School
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills 
  • Must have a friendly disposition 
  • Plans to attend a two or four year college after high school
  • Willing to complete their own FAFSA
  • Tech and Social Media savvy
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Strong communicator, willing to speak in front of a crowd
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 
 
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours
