Professionals in PLM roles use specialized software to streamline collaboration, data management, and workflow efficiency across different teams. They work to optimize product development processes, improve time-to-market, and ensure compliance with industry standards. PLM roles are common in industries like manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and consumer goods.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Plm position, and why are they important?

To excel as a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Specialist, you need a solid background in engineering or computer science, along with experience in managing product data, processes, and lifecycles. Familiarity with leading PLM software systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or Dassault Systèmes ENOVIA, as well as relevant certifications, is highly beneficial. Job description

About Veev

Veev is leading the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev's prefabricated closed-panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on-site while delivering a more sustainable and higher-quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev leverages the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach of its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multidisciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

The Specialist, PLM will play a critical role in ensuring efficient product data management, regulatory compliance, and streamlined change control processes. Your expertise in Arena PLM, BOM structuring, and engineering change management will enable smooth collaboration between Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams. This role is best suited for individuals who thrive in operationally complex environments and take pride in driving clarity and execution across teams.

The Role

As a Specialist, PLM, you will oversee PLM system administration (Arena), manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs), and ensure compliance with configuration control and revision tracking standards. Reporting to the Manager, Change Control, you will work independently to execute high-impact work, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the success of product development and sustainment initiatives.

Your work will enhance documentation accuracy, improve change implementation efficiency, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. This is a high-ownership role responsible for maintaining both the integrity and velocity of Veev's change control system, ensuring engineering changes are accurately defined and efficiently executed across production.

Responsibilities

  • PLM & Change Management
    • Own and administer Arena PLM, ensuring accurate, timely, and production-aligned product documentation, part creation, and BOM structuring.
    • Own the creation, coordination, approval, and implementation of ECOs and MCOs, ensuring timely execution, clear traceability, and alignment with production readiness.
    • Own and maintain PDM-PLM integration (SolidWorks PDM & Arena), ensuring seamless and accurate data transfer.
    • Drive objective evidence collection for ECO implementation closure, ensuring traceability and compliance.
    • Lead and facilitate Change Control Board (CCB) discussions, driving clear decisions, resolving blockers, and ensuring timely progression of changes.
    • Ensure engineering changes are structured and released in a way that supports seamless implementation in fabrication and field operations
  • Process Optimization & Compliance
    • Implement and enforce best practices for PLM and change management processes, improving efficiency and compliance.
    • Conduct internal audits of documentation and change control workflows, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and industry best practices.
    • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance the speed and accuracy of product updates.
    • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, ensuring changes move quickly without compromising accuracy or control.
    • Continuously improve PLM workflows to better support end-to-end product lifecycle management, from design through production and sustainment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to drive alignment and execution of change control processes.
    • Act as a PLM subject matter expert (SME), providing guidance on change control, revision management, and documentation best practices.
    • Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on PLM system functionality and change management workflows.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

These are critical skills, competencies, and qualifications required for success in this role.

  • Technical Skills
    • 3-5 years of experience in PLM administration, document control, or configuration management.
    • Expertise in Arena PLM (required), SolidWorks PDM, and ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
    • Strong understanding of ECR/ECO/MCO processes, BOM structuring, and revision tracking.
    • Ability to interpret and manage engineering documentation, technical drawings, and compliance records.
    • Understanding of how engineering changes impact manufacturing, supply chain, and field execution.
  • Interpersonal & Collaboration Skills
    • Ability to execute tasks independently and mentor junior colleagues in PLM best practices.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
    • Strong sense of ownership with the ability to drive change control processes end-to-end, from initiation through implementation.
    • Ability to manage complex, cross-functional changes involving multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Education & Experience
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
    • Preferred: Certification in Arena PLM administration, Change Management, or Configuration Management.
    • Experience working in regulated environments such as construction, manufacturing, or aerospace is a plus.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

These skills, competencies, and qualifications would set you, as a candidate, apart but are not required for the role.

  • Experience with BIM software for digital model documentation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience facilitating Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
  • Knowledge of California Building Codes or other regulatory frameworks.

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $110,000-$140,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
