Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) Educator & Data Abstractor reports to the CEO and supports and facilitates the on-going educational needs of hospital personnel who care for patients in various stages of recovery by conducting orientation, competency validation and enhancement of staff knowledge and skills through in-service programs. The Data Abstractor responsibilities include developing new audit tools as needed to ensure compliance with all current and new Hospital Quality Measures.


The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
  • Performs chart audits, abstractions and audits according to established guidelines.
  • Understands facility policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Assists the CEO and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) with the coordination of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee meetings and activities.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the Facility Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Participates in an annual review of the QAPI Plan and makes recommendations for improvements to Facility Leadership.
  • Prepares data reports for Facility Leadership and Board of Directors, as needed.
  • Maintains records and minutes of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee.
  • Assists with education and orientation for new and current employees regarding QAPI and Hospital Measure data.
  • Monitors compliance with existing policies and procedures, as directed.

  • Must have an active Registered Nurse License.
  • Must have at least 3 years of applicable acute hospital experience, unless a combination of experience and training are deemed sufficient for successfully functioning at the prescribed level.
  • Data abstraction, data analysis, data management and educational experience needed.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation.
