Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Night Auditor who is committed to delivering courteous overnight guest service while completing accurate daily financial audits, reports, and end-of-day procedures.


Our Mission

Deliver Accurate Overnight Service and Financial Control.

Provide efficient, courteous overnight Front Office service while ensuring daily hotel revenue, financial activity, and end-of-day processes are completed accurately and on time.


Key Responsibilities

Complete the Night Audit

  • Perform an accurate and timely daily audit of revenue generated by the hotel and retail outlets.
  • Prepare financial reports and distribute them to the appropriate managers.
  • Generate backup reports and analyze discrepancies, rate variations, and credit reports.
  • Complete assigned Night Audit shift checklist tasks and end-of-day procedures.
  • Control the issuance and tracking of sensitive forms and proprietary documents.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and related documents.

Deliver Exceptional Overnight Guest Service

  • Execute prompt, courteous, and accurate guest check-in and check-out.
  • Answer telephones and respond appropriately to guest requests.
  • Address guest questions or concerns regarding hotel rooms, rates, and services.
  • Respond to guest requests and follow through to help ensure needs and expectations are met.
  • Handle guest compliments and complaints professionally and take appropriate action within the scope of the role.
  • Promote participation in guest loyalty programs and guest-satisfaction surveys.

Maintain Front Office and Financial Controls

  • Follow established room inventory and monetary controls.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain a balanced assigned bank.
  • Maintain room security through effective key control and established guest-security procedures.
  • Provide guest access to safety deposit boxes in accordance with established procedures and maintain required access documentation.
  • Ensure guest mail and messages are delivered promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby and reception desk.

Support Overnight Operations

  • Respond to reservation requests when Reservations representatives are not available.
  • Keep the immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of unusual activity, significant problems, discrepancies, or other matters of importance.
  • Maintain safe working conditions within the department and hotel.
  • Complete duties in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Project a professional and favorable image of the hotel in all guest and public interactions.

Collaborate Across the Hotel

  • Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and hotel leadership during the overnight shift.
  • Coordinate information and follow-up related to guest requests, room activity, financial discrepancies, and overnight operational needs.
  • Work independently while maintaining cooperative and professional relationships with coworkers and other departments.

What You Bring

  • At least two years of Night Audit experience.
  • One or more years of guest/customer service experience and/or hotel experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively alone and without direct supervision while maintaining positive working relationships with coworkers.
  • Ability to analyze information, interpret financial reports, identify discrepancies, and make effective judgments.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to complete moderately complex calculations accurately.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with guests and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and hotel property-management systems.
  • Strong attention to guest needs and the ability to remain professional during overnight operations and emergency situations.

Preferred

  • Previous hotel Front Desk Office experience.
  • Two- or four-year college degree.

Physical and Work Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Frequently move throughout the Front Office and hotel during the overnight shift.
  • Use a computer keyboard and operate standard office equipment, including telephones, copiers, and computer systems.
  • Maintain the hearing and visual ability needed to observe emergency situations and accurately enter information into hotel systems.
  • Maintain manual dexterity required for computer and office-equipment use.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required for work duties that may present a health or safety risk.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional grooming and appearance standards.
