Job description

Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel
The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel has over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views.
JOB PURPOSE: To ensure a safe, efficient, well-maintained hotel environment while providing maintenance services to guests in a courteous, professional, and engaging manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain all public areas, guest rooms, meeting rooms and corridors on an on-going basis including paint, wallpaper and plastering.

  • Performs preventive maintenance of guest rooms, following preventive maintenance guidelines for Omni CARE program.

  • Maintain correct stock/inventory of paint supplies and materials and communicate when replenishment is needed.

  • Aid guests in locating other areas of the hotel (walk them to destination if possible).

  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency evacuation.

  • Must be familiar with Omni's systems and procedures.

  • Respond to all requests from guests and associates.

  • Assist engineers and mechanics as needed with repairs.

  • Keep all work areas clean.

  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.

  • Ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.

  • Performs other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience as a commercial painter required, hotel experience preferred.

  • Must be able to brush, roll, spray, and work on different textures.

  • Must be able to patch, float and repair damaged surfaces.

  • Must be able to work with stains, lacquers, varnishes, epoxy and Bondo.

  • Must be able to apply caulk.

  • Must be willing to work based on business and occupancy levels.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

  • Must be able to interact and communicate with the hotel guests.

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, crawl, squat, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.

  • Must work indoors and outdoors including during extreme weather conditions.

  • May be asked to be part of "ride-out" crew during severe weather events.

  • Must be able to work using ladders, scissors, and aerial lifts.

ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS:
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift. Requires repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire shift.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
  • Painting/finishing tools and equipment, ladder, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine and push to talk radio
