Description

SUMMARY:

This is entry-level general maintenance, janitorial, and repair work. This person performs various unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of facilities, buildings, equipment, and fixtures. Assignments will be given orally or through written instructions. Work is reviewed by the Director of the Physical Plant for the Wesson Campus or the Vice President of the Campus for the Natchez and Simpson Campuses. This person shall possess evidence of skill proficiency required in the performance of the duties and responsibilities listed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans restores and rebuilds structures as assigned.
  • Helps in the repair and adjustments to the plumbing, steam and water lines, electrical wiring, and equipment, plastering, furniture, shelves doors, windows, and equipment of various kinds.
  • Acts as custodian of tools and supplies, maintenance and machine tools, winds tunnels, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Performs a variety of brick, cement, carpentry, and painting work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience maintaining the cleanliness of office buildings.
  • Previous experience with garbage disposal equipment.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
