Job description

America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Cage Manager, the Drop/Count Team Member position is responsible for all drop pulls and counts in the casino, ensuring these duties are conducted in an efficient, accurate, timely and safe manner. The successful Drop/Count Team Member demonstrates strong mathematical and analytical skills, exceptional hand/eye coordination and hand dexterity, and is physically capable of lifting to 25 lbs. High-volume cash handling experience is an asset.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safeguards slots drop assets.
  • Adheres to the company count policies and procedures.
  • Performs labor function during slot drop.
  • Performs labor function during count.
  • Safeguards drop count room assets.
  • Adheres to the company drop count policies and procedures.
  • Obtains slot drop boxes from storage carts.
  • Safeguards drop count room assets.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 21 years or older. Must have the ability to obtain a work permit issued by the Louisiana State Police.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations about the implementation of current duties. The ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Constant wrist motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; Frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk. The employee frequently is also required to stand, walk and reach with arms and hands, bend and can lift at least 25 pounds. Office/Casino environment; Subject to outdoor temperature. Exposed to bright lights and noise at times. The work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level.
