CSCA Café, the sister restaurant to Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, is a new and exciting café and bakery that is gaining state wide recognition for it's exceptional pastries, desserts, coffees and teas.  The only cafe and bakery of its kind, we pride ourselves on providing top-notch service, the highest quality products, showcasing the work of CSCA’s Professional students and Alum, and creating a community space where customers can relax and enjoy their favorite beverages, fine pastries and specialty desserts, and other retail products.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced baker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, baking, decorating and finishing a variety of doughs, pastries and specialty desserts. The candidate should demonstrate excellent time management and efficiency, while paying meticulous attention to detail.  This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of product quality and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment. Experience with preparing different types of doughs, batters, and mixes, as well as being experienced in the lamination process is desired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preparation: Measure and mix ingredients accurately to prepare doughs, batters, and other baking mixtures, creams and frostings according to established recipes.
  • Baking: Operate ovens and baking equipment to bake products to specifications, adjusting temperatures and times as necessary.
  • Decorating: Create visually appealing desserts by decorating them with frostings, creams, and other edible items such as chocolate.  
  • Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the quality and consistency of baked goods, making adjustments to recipes or processes as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory of ingredients and supplies, ordering and restocking as needed to maintain production levels.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including regular cleaning of baking equipment and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Packaging: Package finished products appropriately for sale or distribution, ensuring presentation meets company standards.
  • Record Keeping: Document ingredient usage, inventory levels, and any issues or adjustments made during the baking process.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ Years of Baking/Pastry Industry Experience Preferred
  • Pastry/Culinary Certificate, Diploma or Degree is Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required
  • Proven experience as a baker, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to handle long hours and perform manual tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively during nighttime hours, starting in the evening and finishing early in the morning.
  • Food Safe Handling Certified
COMPENSATION
  • $24 - $27/hr. commensurate with Experience and Educational Background

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This job operates in a retail/restaurant, commercial kitchen environment.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
  • This is an Hourly, Part Time Position.
  • Typical shifts will be overnight shifts, 3 days a week as well as 1 – 2 full production days with the cafe baking team, as needed, based on business needs.
