What are Outbound Product Managers?

Outbound Product Managers are professionals responsible for positioning and promoting a company's products to the market. They focus on activities such as go-to-market strategies, product launches, messaging, sales enablement, and gathering market feedback. Unlike inbound product managers who work on product development and requirements, outbound product managers ensure that the product resonates with customers and meets market demand. Their work bridges the gap between product teams and the market, often collaborating closely with marketing and sales. This role is crucial for driving product adoption and achieving business goals.

How does an Outbound Product Manager typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches?

Outbound Product Managers work closely with sales and marketing teams by providing them with in-depth product knowledge, developing go-to-market strategies, and creating compelling messaging. They often conduct training sessions, build sales enablement materials, and gather feedback from the field to refine positioning. This collaboration ensures that the product's value proposition is clearly communicated to customers and that the launch aligns with market needs and business objectives.

    • Capture customer feedback, compliance trends, and market signals to evolve the roadmap.
    • Prioritize capabilities like multi-channel campaign orchestration, predictive dialers, agentless outreach, and AI-driven engagement optimization.
    • Collaborate with engineering and UX to ensure product development aligns with enterprise requirements for scale, compliance, and ROI measurement.

    Thought Leadership

    • Serve as Five9's outbound solutions evangelist at industry events, advisory boards, and analyst briefings.
    • Promote thought leadership around next-gen outbound engagement, including AI-assisted campaigns, omnichannel orchestration, and regulatory readiness.
    • Position Five9 as the leader in outbound innovation, differentiating from inbound-centric providers.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Success in this role will be measured by:

    • Market Differentiation - Analyst recognition and improved market positioning of Five9 outbound solutions.
    • Use Case Expansion - Growth in the number of validated and monetized outbound use cases across industries (collections, healthcare, retail, financial services).

Qualification:

  • Experience aligning SaaS roadmaps with revenue-driving and compliance-sensitive use cases.
