Job description

As the Outbound Logistics Network Planner, you will play a critical role in shaping, optimizing, and executing the delivery network for Ford's finished vehicles across North America. You will be responsible for designing efficient routes, negotiating complex carrier contracts, and driving strategic initiatives to improve delivery speed, reduce costs, and enhance overall network performance.


This highly cross-functional role requires a strategic thinker who can seamlessly transition from forecasting long-term logistics costs for new model programs to managing day-to-day carrier relationships and supporting flawless vehicle launches.
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience within Supply Chain, Logistics, Premium Freight, or Vehicle Manufacturing operations.

  • Design and optimize new and existing vehicle delivery routes across Ford's North American outbound vehicle network.
  • Support carrier negotiations through the issuance of multi-year contracts, obtaining temporary carrier capacity, and navigating long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Identify and action opportunities to optimize cost, speed, and network performance within the existing outbound vehicle network.
  • Create and implement of long-term network strategic initiatives to deliver company objectives.
  • Collaborate with and support purchasing through the carrier on-boarding process.
  • Develop and maintain strong carrier/supplier working relationships.
  • Research and leverage understanding of industry trends and technology advancements in finished vehicle logistics, finding ways to implement these within Ford's vehicle delivery network.
  • Forecast outbound logistics cost-per-unit for new model programs.
  • Flawlessly launch new model network design including route construction and carrier selection.
  • Negotiate and implement plant vehicle handling multi-year contracts (for both unionized & non-unionized carriers/suppliers). 
  • Support the development / creation of new methods and processes required to transport specialty vehicles (BEV, Performance, etc.).
  • Actively engage / support corporate Global Order-to-Delivery redesign efforts (now / near / future).
  • Collaborate and work cross functionally with North American Vehicle Logistics Operations, Transportation Purchasing, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Product Development, Manufacturing, and other skill teams as required.
