Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager of Production Planning & Manufacturing Engineering to lead and transform our production planning organization. This role is responsible for overseeing Production Planning, Work Preparation, CNC Programming, and Scheduling functions across the manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence by establishing scalable planning structures, implementing modern manufacturing tools and processes, and creating a high-performance planning and execution environment. This position plays a key leadership role in aligning manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and shop floor operations to ensure on-time delivery, optimized capacity utilization, and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong analytical skills, manufacturing expertise, and the ability to build and standardize processes in a growing production environment.
Essential Functions:
  • Lead and develop the departments of:
    • Production Planning
    • Manufacturing Engineering Support
    • CNC Programming
  • Establish and implement structured production planning and scheduling processes across all manufacturing areas.
  • Build, standardize, and continuously improve planning methods, workflows, KPIs, and operational procedures.
  • Develop and optimize capacity planning, finite scheduling, and production control systems to improve throughput and delivery performance.
  • Drive the implementation of modern manufacturing tools, ERP/MRP utilization, and digital planning processes.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and Operations to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Ensure accurate routing structures, work instructions, BOM integrity, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead the development and standardization of NC programming processes and machining strategies.
  • Analyze production bottlenecks, resource constraints, and workflow inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish production metrics and reporting systems to monitor schedule adherence, machine utilization, lead times, and delivery reliability.
  • Develop and maintain short-, mid-, and long-term production plans aligned with customer demand and business objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams while creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support strategic manufacturing initiatives, automation projects, and operational scaling efforts.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field with 6+ years relevant experience (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field with 4+ years relevant experience (Preferred)

  • Proven track record of building or restructuring planning and manufacturing control organizations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in high-mix / low-volume manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
