Position Overview

The Operational Planning Analyst supports operational planning and strategic planning initiatives by assisting leadership in the development, coordination, and execution of operational plans and programs. This position provides analytical and planning support to ensure alignment with operational objectives, policy guidance, and established planning frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational planning support to leadership and planning divisions responsible for operational planning initiatives.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and synchronization of operational plans, programs, and initiatives.
  • Support development and analysis of planning products including campaign plans, contingency plans, and operational planning documents.
  • Participate in planning conferences, working groups, and coordination meetings supporting operational planning activities.
  • Assist leadership in analyzing operational problems and developing recommended courses of action.
  • Support operational planning efforts related to crisis response, contingency planning, and long-range operational initiatives.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of strategic and operational planning products.
  • Assist with preparation of planning briefs, concept papers, and decision support materials.
  • Support integration and synchronization of operational planning activities across multiple stakeholders and organizations.
  • Assist in tracking and managing planning milestones, deliverables, and operational planning documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting operational planning or strategic planning efforts in a military or government environment.
  • Knowledge of operational planning doctrine and processes.
  • Ability to conduct analytical research and develop planning documentation.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting command-level planning organizations.
  • Familiarity with campaign planning and contingency planning processes.
  • Experience supporting planning conferences, exercises, and operational planning events.
