Job description

USE YOUR POWERS OF PERSUASION TO HELP STUDENTS REDISCOVER THEIR PASSION
Position Summary:
Have you ever started something you had a passion for, but for some reason or other, not seen it through to the end? Many of us have done that at some point in our lives, and often we live to regret that decision...especially if it was life changing. More students than we'd like face situations or difficulties and decide to drop out of school rather than persevere; your job will be to help those students rediscover their passion for the skilled trade they chose and bring them back to school to live their dream.
As part of the campus Student Services team, the successful applicant for this role will use their innate positivity and powers of persuasion to engage students who have dropped out of school. Come join an enthusiastic, dedicated team of education professionals. You will be making phone calls, emailing, texting, and generally doing what you can to reconnect with them and help them work through the issue(s) that caused them to drop out, and then nudge them to rediscover the passion that caused them to enroll the first time. You will help them get their dreams and their lives back on track.
We don't underestimate the challenge of this role; not everyone will want to come back...and that's okay. But how good will it feel to help those who do rediscover their passion for a life in the skilled trades?
Role Responsibilities:
To be successful in your application for the Re-Enrollment Specialist position, you will need to be an enthusiastic individual with a caring and engaging personality, a pleasant and steadfast demeanor, and great communication skills. In this role you will:
  • Engage with previously enrolled students who have dropped out and encourage them to re-enroll.
  • Conduct phone, email, and/or in person conversations to help these students overcome any obstacles to re-enrollment and rediscover their passion for the trade.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the Admissions Department, Faculty, and Student Services team to learn as much as you can about the individuals you are trying to reconnect with.
  • There will be other duties, as assigned.

The importance of this role gives you the ability to impact peoples' lives positively and directly. That is why we are looking for an experienced, empathetic professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to see situations from different perspectives.
Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:
The preferred applicant will have an associate (or higher) level degree, and a minimum of two years of related successful experience and/or training, ideally in an Admissions or Student Services setting within adult education. Ideally you will have a passion of your own for the skilled trades, and a strong desire to help students finally achieve their goals.
We are also looking for:
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills, including problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and strong student focus to inspire, engage, and coach disengaged students to reengage with school.
  • A proven self-starter who continually pursues learning opportunities
  • A detail-oriented, organized individual with the ability to multi-task and solve problems.
  • A team player - you must thrive in a team environment and have solid people skills.
  • A professional with skills in diplomacy, assertiveness, and persuasion.

People Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, you will work very closely with respective colleagues in Student Services, Admissions, Faculty, and other members of the campus team. This position reports to the Director of Student Services.
Physical Environment:
