Position Overview
Guzman Energy is seeking a highly motivated Energy Analyst with 2–3+ years of experience in the energy sector and a strong background in finance to join our dynamic team. This role is central to supporting the structuring and pricing of new energy contracts, conducting resource planning, and advancing our analytical capabilities through Plexos (Energy Exemplar) modeling.
The analyst will also be responsible for managing and improving the company's long-term forecasting software/tools, ensuring the development of high-quality forward fundamentals and long-term price curves.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Structuring & Pricing
- Support the structuring and pricing of new power supply agreements and energy contracts
- Develop and refine financial models to evaluate contract economics and risk
Resource Planning & Power Markets Modeling
- Perform resource planning, capacity analysis, and portfolio optimization using internal analytical frameworks
- Lead and manage modeling workflows in Plexos (Energy Exemplar), including scenario design, model runs, troubleshooting, and documentation
Long-Term Market Fundamentals & Forecasting Tools
- Manage the company's long-term forecasting software/tools for fundamentals modeling and forward curve development
- Create, maintain, and enhance long-term power price forecasts informed by market fundamentals, supply-demand dynamics, fuel trends, and regulatory factors
Cross-Functional Communication & Reporting
- Translate complex analytical outcomes into concise summaries and clear recommendations for commercial, operations, and executive teams
- Manage project timelines, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule
- Prepare reports, executive presentations, dashboards, and decision-support materials for leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Energy, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
- 2–3+ years of professional experience in the energy industry (power markets, utilities, energy trading, consulting, or related)
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Advanced Excel and basic Python proficiency required; experience with VBA or R is a plus
- Exposure to or direct experience with Plexos, Aurora, PSO, or similar production cost models strongly preferred
- Experience with forecasting tools, fundamentals modeling, or long-term curve generation preferred (or willingness to learn)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities; proactive, independent, and self-directed
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across technical and commercial functions
