Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Operator Helper participates in the process of crushing, grinding, flotation, regrind, filter plant monitoring and tailings to ensure successful operation of the Concentrator Mill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Crusher tasks include:
  • Reviews turnover with operator from previous shifts.
  • Completes pre-op inspection of work area and attends safety meeting.
  • Controls lights on track hopper
  • Communicates with CBRY on train timing.
  • Completes operation inspection during shift to determine if equipment needs attending, and if rock needs breaking.
  • Notifies Crusher Helper regarding any equipment issues or concerns.
  • Housekeeping clean up all spillage.

Grinding tasks include:
  • Attends safety meeting and receives turnover from pervious shift.
  • Observes that eye wash stations are functioning, and solution sprays are working properly.
  • Submits all work orders and inspection sheets.
  • Housekeeping, clean up all spillage.
  • Weighs out samples and provides data to Control Room Operator.
  • Inspect Section 7 feed conveyors and weigh belts.

Flotation tasks include:
  • Obtains turnover measurements from previous shift.
  • Monitors reagents to solution.
  • Measures alkalinity of solution.
  • Records data, monitors cycle time and repeats every two hours.
  • Housekeeping, clean up all spillage.

Regrind tasks include:
  • Attends safety meeting and receives turnover from pervious shift.
  • Checks and starts portable compressor for proper functioning.
  • Gathers and records slurry sample, underflow sample, overflow sample, final con and first cleaner sample.
  • Tags out samples for analysis to be done.
  • Monitor gland water pumps and piping.
  • Monitor thickener feed pumps and piping and sump level.
  • Monitor tailings pumps, piping and sump level.

Filter Plant tasks include:
  • Conducts inspection of eye wash stations
  • Observes equipment functioning at conveyor
  • Retrieves and shakes concentrate sample using Marcy cup to measure, weigh and record.
  • Inspects chutes for build-up from previous shift.
  • Help with operation of the lime slaker and pumps.

Tailings tasks include:
  • Completes pre-op inspection of truck and inspect freshwater lines.
  • Inspect Booster Station pumps, MCC and control room.
  • Inspects spigots and piping
  • Repeats round every 2 hours.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Applicant must have good communications skills (oral and written).
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be capable to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. (Shifts may be rotating; operations are (24/7/365).
  • Ability to work in adverse climate/temperature environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency and be able, under general
    supervision, to operate three (3) Ore Processing Circuits and all associated

  • Must have at least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in an operating position in an ore processing facility.
