JOB FUNCTION:

Trains to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the diesel plant. Performs general maintenance work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator at the diesel plant and trains to perform the duties of these classifications.
  • Is assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant.
  • May perform in relief capacity, standing watch as Senior Operator Helper when qualified.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean.
  • Maintains watch until relieved.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions).
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
  • T47: Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
    • Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
  • T47: Must pass the Job Sample Test.
