Job description

Operations Manager | Hanover, MD Distribution Center

PowerPak Civil & Safety | On-Site | Full-Time

About the role

PowerPak keeps utility and infrastructure crews supplied, often same-day or next-day. When a jobsite needs safety gear, signage, or tools, they count on us to get it there right and on time. That reliability starts inside our distribution centers, with the people who run them.

We're hiring an Operations Manager for our Hanover, MD distribution center. This is a working manager role. You'll own the operation end to end: receiving, inventory, fulfillment, and outbound delivery. You'll be on the floor and in the details, leading a lean team while building the structure the center needs as it grows. It's a good fit for someone who likes taking ownership of an operation and steadily making it better.

What you'll own
  • Receiving. Inbound freight, PO verification, and accurate, timely put-away.
  • Inventory. Cycle counts, bin organization, and stock data the team can trust.
  • Fulfillment. Picking, packing, and order accuracy.
  • Outbound logistics. Coordinating fleet drivers, routing, and carriers to meet delivery commitments cost-effectively.
  • Sales support. Serving as the operational point of contact for the branch sales team on order, inventory, and delivery questions.
  • The operation as a whole. Safety, housekeeping, throughput, and continuous improvement of daily work.
  • Cross-functional coordination. Partnering with purchasing, sales, and customer service to keep orders moving and resolve issues quickly.
What success looks like
  • Deliveries go out on time and complete.
  • Orders are accurate, so customers can rely on what arrives.
  • The operation stays efficient and cost-aware as volume grows.
  • Processes, the team, and inventory data all improve over time.
What you bring
  • 5+ years in warehouse, distribution, or operations, hands-on across receiving, inventory, fulfillment, and shipping.
  • A track record of owning outcomes when things had to ship correctly and on time.
  • Comfort managing the floor and the bigger picture at the same time.
  • Experience coordinating deliveries with drivers and third-party carriers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to inventory accuracy.
  • Working proficiency with warehouse and inventory systems (WMS/ERP), and the ability to learn new tools quickly.

Preferred:

  • Distribution experience in construction, industrial, civil, or safety products.
  • A history of scaling an operation or standing up a new facility.
  • Forklift or material-handling certification.
Why PowerPak

Our values guide how we work: Caring, Transparent, Accountable, Agile, and Reliable. We take our delivery promise seriously, we support the people who make it happen, and we try to make the experience a good one for customers and coworkers alike.

This is a ground-floor role in a growing operation, with real room to make it your own and to grow with it.

This position requires you to work in an office 5 days a week in Hanover, MD.

Job type: Full time

Benefits:

  • Great medical, dental & vision benefits
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies
  • Team-first mindset
  • Career growth opportunities
