DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Operations – Canada is a hands-on operational leader responsible for the day-to-day management of Plum Gas Solutions’ field operations across Canada, including lead operators, field technicians, and support staff. This role ensures safety, efficiency, and high-quality service delivery across Canadian sites while supporting the Vice President – Operations in driving continuous improvement, asset utilization, and preventative maintenance execution.
This role partners closely with logistics, engineering, and commercial teams to align field execution with customer demand, ensuring equipment readiness and consistent, reliable service delivery. The Director of Operations should be capable of stepping in to provide direct field service support when needed, and will escalate strategic, budget, and capital allocation decisions to the Vice President – Operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Manage lead operators, field technicians, and support staff across Canadian operations to ensure operational excellence and meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Oversee day-to-day asset tracking, utilization, and deployment of the rental equipment fleet across Canadian locations.
• Ensure asset availability by coordinating maintenance, logistics, and field operations schedules with customer demand.
• Support the Vice President – Operations in managing Canadian operational budgets, including maintenance, labor, and fleet-related expenditures.
• Execute preventative maintenance and repair programs, including scheduling, turnaround times, and cost control at the site level.
• Coordinate scheduling, dispatch, and resource allocation for field technicians and support staff to meet customer service demands.
• Coordinate training and development programs to strengthen technical skills and safety awareness among field teams.
• Implement and enforce safety policies to foster a culture of workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
• Manage customer service operations by ensuring work orders, field tickets, and service documentation are accurate and timely.
• Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to service efficiency, cost management, and technician productivity.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, Canadian regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with the Vice President – Operations and internal teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve service processes.
• Partner with finance, engineering, and sales to align on asset availability and tracking, mobilization processes, and ongoing service plans for Canadian customers.
• Provide direct, hands-on field service support as needed.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in field operations, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience managing field service teams and safety programs.
• Experience in the oil amp; gas, power generation, or industrial equipment industries preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Industry certifications in safety, operations, or equipment maintenance.
• Experience with asset tracking or fleet management systems.
• Familiarity with Canadian oil amp; gas regulatory requirements.
Leader Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and support the Canadian operations team and associated administrative functions, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to lead operators and field technicians.
• Escalate strategic, budget, and capital allocation decisions to the Vice President – Operations.
Work Environment
• Field and site-based role across Canadian locations, with office support as needed.
Physical Demands
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and climb.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
