Job description

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery goals are achieved. This position provides leadership and direction to production teams while driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting a positive, team-oriented culture throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance daily operational needs with long-term improvement initiatives.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure schedules and customer requirements are met.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Monitor key operational metrics including productivity, scrap, downtime, labor utilization, and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Inventory, and Human Resources to support overall operational goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and production employees.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and maintain strong communication across departments.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow management.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support employee development, performance management, and corrective action processes in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and provide hands-on support to operations teams.
  • Travel between facilities as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience in a production environment required.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in CNC machining, milling, turning, or Swiss machining environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • ERP/MRP system experience preferred.
