Job description

Operations Manager

About the Role:

AdviceOne is growing, and we're looking for a leader to manage our Operations department. We're looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience managing people, with real moments to show for it: holding a team accountable, developing someone's skills, making the tough call when something went sideways, and cultivating confidence when it went great.

We're less interested in how long you've been managing and more interested in the leader you are becoming because of those moments.

You bring the leadership. We'll bring you up to speed on the rest: the nuances of our industry, our Operations department, and everything specific to AdviceOne. Zero financial services experience required. Leadership is the one thing we can't teach, and it's the one thing we're hiring for. If your favorite part of the job is having an impact on people, we want to talk.

About Responsibilities:

Our Operations Manager will lead and develop the team that drives all processes both client-facing and behind the scenes that enable our firm to run smoothly. The Operations department is made up of 3 sub-departments, and we're looking for a leader who could fit one, or grow into all three. But here's what really matters: this person has to thrive on developing people. Not tolerate it, not check the box on it. Get energy from it. We're a team-managed firm, and we grow by growing our people.

  • Own the day-to-day management of your team, keeping work moving and priorities clear
  • Build and maintain a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability
  • Coach, train, and develop your team; take real ownership of their growth
  • Mentor team members through challenges, not just tasks, and invest in where they grow next
  • Spot what's broken or inefficient and build better ways of doing things
  • Partner with leadership to shape and execute strategy for your area

About You:

  • You’re a natural leader and get energy from it
  • A proven track record of holding a team accountable and developing them, not just supervising them
  • An out-of-the-box thinker who isn't afraid to take a risk or challenge how things have always been done
  • A true people-person who gets work done through people, not by themselves
  • You think analytically and enjoy solving complex problems
  • You communicate expectations, feedback, and process changes clearly and directly
  • You receive feedback well and act on it immediately
  • You're organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple moving parts at once
  • 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 2 years directly managing people
  • BA/BS degree

About AdviceOne:

AdviceOne is a growing advisory firm that specializes in retirement decisions and asset management for clients nationwide. Join a team with a strong, women-led presence, within a firm that values fresh thinking and real accountability at every level. We're fee-only and act in a fiduciary capacity for our clients. Become a part of the AdviceOne team!

About Balance:

  • Hybrid position
  • In-person on Tuesdays in Glastonbury, CT. Every other day is work from home
  • We provide full work-from-home functionality

About Benefits:

  • Competitive starting salary, commensurate with your experience as a proven leader
  • Revenue sharing bonus opportunities (quarterly and long-term)
  • 401(k) plan with 3% employer contribution
  • Medical/Dental/Vision/Life insurance
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Short- and long-term disability
  • Healthy work/life balance
