Job description

About PlanITROI and the Center of Excellence

Since 2001, PlanITROI has been a global leader in Reverse Logistics, IT Asset Disposition, Asset Recovery, Repair, Refurbishment, and Lifecycle Services for OEMs, retailers, enterprises, educational institutions, and businesses of all sizes. Today, we are building something bigger!

The world’s greatest Repair and Refurbishment organization for ITAD and Lifecycle Services.

At the heart of our mission is our Center of Excellence in Youngsville, North Carolina, where returned, retired, and idle IT assets are refurbished and transformed into high-quality, certified technology solutions that extend product lifecycles, maximize value recovery, and make technology more affordable and accessible.

The work we do gives computers, laptops, tablets, and other devices a second life — and gives businesses, students, families, and communities greater access to the technology they need.

Our clients trust us to protect their data, recover value from their retired IT assets, meet the highest compliance standards, and support the circular economy. But our mission goes beyond processing equipment. We are building a future-ready operation powered by quality, accountability, innovation, automation, training, and people who take pride in doing meaningful work. At PlanITROI, a retired device is not the end of the story. It can become someone's opportunity.

We are looking for teammates who want to be part of building the future!

Senior Operations Manager

Mission: The mission of this role is to drive operational precision, throughput, and compliance across internal teams and external vendors so that every ITAD project is delivered on time, to spec, and in full regulatory compliance, while continuously improving processes through Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.

Position Summary

This role ensures all operational projects are delivered with precision, consistency, and full compliance, coordinating closely with internal operations teams and external vendors to support efficient, scalable execution.

This individual serves as a primary operational leader between internal production functions and external vendors and partners, ensuring materials, services, and deliverables meet operational timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a leader and coach who can drive accountability and results, while bringing strong operational discipline, Lean/Six Sigma thinking, and experience in manufacturing or industrial operations where precision, throughput, and process control are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Ownership & Execution

  • Own the full lifecycle of operational projects from initiation through completion and reporting.
  • Translate program requirements into clearly defined operational workflows and production plans.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ensure all project milestones, deliverables, and SLAs are consistently met.

Operational Coordination & Vendor Management

  • Daily execution across Receiving, Data Destruction, Refurbishment, Quality Control, Inventory, Shipping, and external vendor partners.
  • Manage vendor workflows, service execution, and material movement to support production schedules.
  • Monitor workflow progression through internal systems and ensure accurate asset tracking across internal and external touchpoints.
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks involving vendor dependencies and internal constraints.
  • Partner with production leadership to align capacity, scheduling, and vendor support.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance workflow efficiency and execution.
  • Identify waste, inefficiencies, and process gaps across internal operations and vendor-supported processes.
  • Support standardization of operational processes across programs and vendor interactions.
  • Contribute to automation and systems improvement initiatives within production environments.

Documentation, Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, dashboards, and status reporting.
  • Provide proactive updates to internal stakeholders regarding operational and vendor performance.
  • Ensure all processes and documentation support audit readiness for NAID, R2v3, ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards.
  • Support adherence to all data security and environmental compliance requirements.

Vendor & Internal Stakeholder Coordination

  • Participate in operational planning sessions, vendor reviews, and internal project meetings.
  • Manage vendor expectations regarding timelines, scope, capacity, and operational constraints.
  • Support internal account, sales, and operations teams by ensuring execution aligns with program requirements and service standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-7+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, logistics, operations, or technical services.
  • 5+ years of training, teaching, and coaching teams of at least 100 people and holding those accountable to daily goals.
  • Experience in ITAD, electronics lifecycle services, or distributed IT hardware environments is a plus.
  • PMP certification or other formal project management credential preferred.
  • Strong background in structured project management methodologies.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments. (R2v3, NAID, ISO standards)
  • Experience managing external vendors or third-party service providers in an operational context.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience using ERP, Inventory Management Systems, or workflow/project management systems.
