Role: Warehouse Automation Project Manager
Location: Near RPT, North Carolina
Duration: 1+ Year Contract

Position Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Automation Project Manager to lead and execute capital automation projects within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • This role will focus on the implementation, integration, commissioning, and optimization of automated warehouse and intralogistics systems supporting GMP manufacturing operations.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong project management expertise combined with hands-on experience managing automation equipment installations and integrating warehouse technologies with enterprise IT systems in regulated manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of warehouse automation and intralogistics projects within pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and stakeholder communications for capital projects.
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, qualification, and retrofit activities for automated warehouse systems.
  • Oversee integration of automation equipment with enterprise-level IT systems, including MES, WMS, ERP, and SCADA platforms.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, validation, IT, quality, vendors, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support design reviews, FAT/SAT activities, startup planning, and operational readiness.
  • Monitor project milestones and maintain detailed project schedules using project management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
  • Drive issue resolution, risk mitigation, and change management activities.
  • Provide regular status updates and reporting to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse automation and material flow optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of Project Management experience delivering capital projects within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with Automated Warehouse/Intralogistics Systems, including:
  • ASRS (Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems)
  • AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)
  • AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots)
  • Conveyor systems
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, or retrofit activities in manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automation equipment with enterprise IT systems.
  • Strong understanding of shop floor operations within manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital or construction projects.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling and planning tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with GMP/GxP regulated environments.
  • Exposure to warehouse management systems (WMS) and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with automation vendors and system integrators.
